GPSR compliance checklist: every field your EU product listing needs
The General Product Safety Regulation (EU 2023/988) — GPSR — has been applicable since 13 December 2024. Every consumer product listing on an EU marketplace or ecommerce storefront must carry specific information. Missing a single field can result in listing suppression, marketplace enforcement, or regulatory action.
This checklist covers every field required under GPSR for an online product listing, organised by the article that requires it. Use it as a working document: go through your listings, check each field, and fix what is missing.
Before you start: who are you under GPSR?
Your obligations depend on your role in the supply chain. GPSR assigns duties to four economic operators:
Manufacturer — the entity that makes the product or has it made under their name or trademark. Private-label brands are typically the manufacturer even if a factory produces the goods.
Importer — the EU-established entity that places a non-EU product on the EU market. If you are EU-based and buy products from a non-EU supplier for resale, you are likely the importer.
Distributor — the entity that makes the product available on the market without being the manufacturer or importer. EU-based resellers of products already imported by someone else are typically distributors.
EU Responsible Person — the EU-established entity designated by a non-EU manufacturer to carry certain administrative obligations. Required when there is no EU manufacturer or importer.
Identify your role before working through the checklist. The fields required on your listing are the same regardless of role, but who provides the data differs.

How to use this checklist
Step 1: Pick one product listing on one EU marketplace.
Step 2: Go through every row in Sections 1–5. For each field, check whether the information is present, complete, and correct on the live listing.
Step 3: Mark each field: ✅ present and correct, ⚠️ present but incomplete, or ❌ missing.
Step 4: For every ⚠️ and ❌, determine who provides the data (you, your manufacturer, your EU RP, your supplier) and take action to fill the gap.
Step 5: Repeat for every product and every EU marketplace.
Step 6: For Section 6, confirm the documentation exists in your records — even though it does not appear on the listing, marketplace audits and authority requests can come at any time.
Marketplace-specific field locations
| Marketplace | Where GPSR fields go |
|---|---|
| Amazon | "EU Compliance" section in Seller Central; some fields in "Item Specifics" |
| Shopify | Product metafields or compliance app; GPSR fields must be visible on the storefront |
| Etsy | "Product safety" section in listing editor; manufacturer details in new compliance fields |
| eBay | "Item Specifics" with GPSR-specific fields |
| bol.com | Product data requirements — manufacturer details mandatory since March 2026 |
| Zalando | Compliance data submitted through partner portal |
Each marketplace implements GPSR fields differently. The underlying regulation is the same, but where you enter the data varies. Check each platform's seller documentation for the current field locations.
